Makana Municipality facilitated the development of the Informal Trading Policy which aims to create a well functioning and regulated informal sector.

The purpose of the policy is to ensure that existing micro enterprises and future ones are able to trade in a sound environment. This is because Makana Local Municipality views informal businesses as a critical contributing sector which will contribute to the reduction of poverty. The informal sector remains the sector which has consistently demonstrated great potential for poverty alleviation and creating employment opportunities.

The month of February has been set aside for both primary and secondary stakeholders to make inputs to the policy. Inputs can be handed in at the LED Office (Rooms 1&2) in High Street. For enquiries please call 046 603 6091.
