MAYORAL IMBIZO
Residents came out in numbers to take part in the public participation process, following the adoption of the budget and IDP. The Mayoral Imbizo for Wards 02, 03, 05, 06, 09, and 11 took place at the Extension 6 Indoor Sports Center on 23 May 2023.
This process follows shortly after the municipality held successful Mayoral Imbizos which were aimed at engaging communities on ward-based development priorities. That process started on the 7th March until 28th March 2023 with 14 sessions across the Municipality.
Among the issues raised by the communities, based on the last community engagement, the common issues that were raised were the following:
Upgrading of basic service infrastructureRepair and maintenance of basic services infrastructure (i.e roads)non-responsiveness to complaints from the communityContinuing water challenges that are characterised by water rationing, the schedule on water carting and water/sewer spillages.Lack of information regarding Housing DevelopmentsProvision of social service servicesSupport and local economic developmentIssued by the Makana Municipality Communications Office.
