EASTERN SIDE WATER UPDATE
Maintenance at James Klynhans (JK) Water Treatment Works continued until 3.30am this morning. It is anticipated that we will be operating at 50 percent capacity by late this afternoon. Water deliveries to water in Makhanda East will continue and hopefully the plant will be back to 100 percent operation by Monday. The municipality is doing everything in its power to rectify the situation because we realise the serious impact of being without running water has on the community.
Residents should also note that water deliveries to the East are being done with water from the Western side. This means that there will be intermittent supply in the Western side as well.
In the mean time we are waiting for the final tests to determine whether the borehole water that has been drilled by the Gift of the Gift of the Givers (GoG) is fit for consumption. Unfortunately there won’t be any bottled water deliveries by the GoG from today until Monday, due to the fact that the GoG team is going to collect more water which is expected to be available for delivery on Monday afternoon.
The municipality is doing its best to speed up the work that is being done at the plant so that normal water supply can be restored.
We apologise for the inconvenience.
