WATER QUALITY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Makana Municipality is currently conducting awareness campaigns around Makhanda following the water alert that was issued after traces of E. coli were detected in our drinking water. On Tuesday, 30 May 2023 the Municipality visited Settlers Hospital, the NG. Dlukulu Clinic in Extension 7 and the Settlers Day Hospital.

Officials from the Municipality, the Department of Water and Sanitation and officials from the Department of Health District Office took part in the campaign. Officials educated members of the public and clinic staff about the current situation and handed out information pamphlets.

On 29 May, the officials visited the Queen Street taxi rank for an activation and went to Khutliso Daniels Secondary school for an educational outreach.

Re-sampling was undertaken after corrective action was taken and the results of the latest tests will be communicated shortly.
