WATER AND DAM LEVELS UPDATE

WATER AND DAM LEVELS UPDATE

Share:

11 March 2019

WESTERN SIDE:

We are very happy to announce that the recent rain has had a positive impact one of our supply dams, however, it wasn’t significant. Howieson’s Poort dam as of this morning is at 21.3% from 18.3% on Friday 08 March 2019. The weekend rain seems to have had no impact at all on Settler’s dam for now. On Friday Settler’s dam was at 9.3%, this morning it is on 9.1%.

The Waainek Water Treatment Works is not producing at full capacity because there is currently work that’s being done on the filters. Only four instead of six filters are in use because a contractor is busy refurbishing them. Consequently water supply on the Western side will be intermittent .

EASTERN SIDE:

The James Klynhans (JK) Water Treatment Works is currently producing 5 mega litres of treated water because only one pump is currently in use. This is because the other pump is being aligned today, hopefully by tomorrow both pumps will be in operation. Amatola Water has been seconded to assist at JK. Chris Nair of Amatola Water was already at the pump station on Saturday, 09 March 2019. Details of the secondment will be communicated as soon they have been confirmed officially.
