Notice is hereby given in terms of Chapter 3 Section 11(2) read with Section 73 of the National Environmental Management Act and section 12 of the Municipal Systems Act(no 32 of 2000): that Makana Local Municipality (MLM) in the Eastern Cape Province is developing an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and reviewing Makana Solid Waste Management Bylaw, Schedule of Fines-Makana Waste Management By-law offences and Animal Impoundment By-law.

Name of Project: The Development of an EMP and reviewal of Bylaws for MLM in the Eastern Cape Province. Project description: The proposed project entails the development of an EMP for MLM in terms of Section 11(2) of NEMA: which requires every organ of state to develop an EMP and the reviewal of municipal by-laws in terms of Municipal System Act 32 of 2000 requires municipalities to exercise their executive and legislative authority by developing, adopting, and implementing by-laws, policies and strategies to govern local affairs.

Project Location: MLM is located within Sarah Baartman District Municipality in Eastern Cape Province.

Availability of the Draft Documents: The Draft EPM and Bylaws will be available for public review for 30 days, commencing from Monday, 16/03/2026 to Friday, 24/04/2026 at the following places:
