Core Responsibilities
1. Infrastructure Planning & Development
- Design and implement new infrastructure projects (e.g. roads, bridges, water pipelines, sewage systems).
- Align infrastructure development with urban growth and development plans.
2. Maintenance of Existing Infrastructure
- Regular inspection, repair, and upgrading of roads, stormwater systems, water and sanitation networks, etc.
- Ensure reliability and safety of infrastructure assets.
3. Engineering Services
- Provide civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical engineering expertise.
- Review development applications and ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulations.
4. Service Delivery Support
- Ensure uninterrupted water supply, sanitation services, and stormwater drainage.
- Respond to infrastructure-related service delivery complaints.
5. Project Management
- Oversee municipal infrastructure projects from inception to completion.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification.
6. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure that all engineering works comply with municipal, provincial, and national legislation and standards.
7. Sustainable Development
- Incorporate green infrastructure, climate resilience, and environmentally sustainable practices in infrastructure planning.
