Energy & Environment Section

The Section is capacitated and continuously supported under the South African – German Energy Programme (SAGEN) programme. The implementing partners are GIZ, the Department of Mineral Resources Energy (DMRE), the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) and Sustainable Energy Africa NPC (SEA), as well as Energy Cybernetics.

Summary

The section exists to plan, develop and manage renewable systems, processes, standards, regulations, policies and ensures green alignment of the IDP & SDBIP.

Main Purposes

To ensure Sustainable Energy Management, Community Environment protection and transitioning to renewable energy sources reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
