NOTICE

To all residents of Makana

This to notify the residents of Makana that yesterday’s storm caused major damages to the upgraded overhead electrical line between Howiesonspoort pump station & Waanek. Trees fell over and damaged a large section of the electrical lines. Due to these damages Howiesonspoort pump station and Waainek water Treatment Works do not have power, therefore causing water outages to the entire Grahamstown West area.

Major repairs need to be carried out before power is restored to these areas of which our technicians are busy repairing. Unfortunately, until these cables are repaired we will be experiencing water outages to all the areas supplied by Waainek WTW. Weather permitting, the expected turn-around time for full supply is Sunday 16 November 2014 but might complete repairs before that.

The municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused, we are trying all means necessary to restore power.

There are trucks available to deliver water to all the affected areas or one can call the Engineering Department @ (046) 603 6063 or Fire Department @ (046) 603 6000.
