Mayor delivers on his promise

The Executive Mayor of Makana Municipality Cl. P.M. Kate will soon deliver on the promises he made to residents of Makana that reside in the rural areas during the Rural Outreach Development Programme Imbizos held at Wards 1,3 &4. From 9 August to 4 September 2008 a total of thirteen meetings were held at these 3 wards with the purpose of letting people decide how an amount of R1,1 million would be spent to fast-track their development.

Official Opening of Fingo Library

“It is not true that African people we first exposed to education after the arrival of Europeans in Africa”. The Provincial MEC for Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture (DSRC) Honorable Noxolo Abrahams- Ntantiso said this at the official opening of Fingo Library in Grhamstown in front of approximately 700 residents. She said the Timbuktu manuscripts that made a stop at the Albany Museum in September 2008 on their way to Mali were evident of that fact as they date back to the 13th Century.

Mayor accompanies learners to school

It was a mixture of emotions today with some crying and some laughing as schools in the coastal areas of the Republic opened their doors for the new academic year. One of the schools in Grahamstown, C.M. Vellem Primary had a surprise visitor in the form of the Executive Mayor of Makana Municipality, Cl. P.M. Kate.

Health train back in town

Phelophepha (The Health Train) is coming to Grahamstown once again. This is aimed at erasing the disappointment experienced by the people of Grahamstown and the surrounding areas when the train could not render some of its services due to a technical problem when it visited our area last year.
