The Executive Mayor of Makana Municipality Cllr. Vumile Lwana has wasted no time in implementing one of the resolutions taken by the Provincial Executive Council (EXCO). During its outreach programme on 16-17 July in the Cacadu District, the EXCO led by the Premier Noxolo Kiviet resolved that municipalities must provide municipal services to schools.

“The private sector needs to be protected if we want to grow and sustain the Small Medium and Micro Enterprises”, this was said by Provincial Executive Council Member, MEC Mcebisi Jonas. He said this at the official opening of Makana Resort, formerly known as Caravan Park, which is a three star accommodation facility in Grahamstown.

Updating of the valuation roll 2009/10 |

Kindly be informed that in the full Council meeting held on the 18th June 2009 the Council resolved that a process of “updating the Valuation Roll” be undertaken during the first three months or first quarter of the 2009 / 2010 financial year (i.e. 1 July to 30 September 2009) in order to ensure that the municipality complies with the Municipal Property Rates Act No. 6 of 2004.

2010 Festival 15 days long |

Next year’s National Arts Festival will be 15 days long. This was announced at the festival closing media briefing by the festival’s CEO Tony Lankester. He said this was meant to “accommodate the 2010 Fifa World Cup to be held in South Africa”.
