The Integrated Development Planning (IDP) office of Makana Municipality is holding planning workshops with ward councillors, ward committees and community development workers (CDWs). The workshops are meant to discuss the new public participation process the IDP office wants to implement to accurately identify the community’s needs.

One of the issues constantly raised by residents especially from wards 10 and 11 during the Mayoral Imbizo is the tarring of the gravel roads. Residents have been complaining about the dust, saying it is affecting their health as well as damaging their furniture and clothes.

Saving the high court

The community of Grahamstown from various sectors like the Municipality, Rhodes University, legal fraternity, business people, politicians, etc. recently came together in order to garner support for the Seat of the High Court to remain in Grahamstown. The High Court has been in Grahamstown for more than 140 years.

Water quality results - July 2010

Tests were done on the 25th of June 2010 by Amatola Water Board for the entire Makana, i.e. Grahamstown, Alicedale and Riebeeck East.

Water quality results are subdivided into physical, chemical and microbiological requirements.
