Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Section 127(5) of the Municipal Finance Management Act 56 of 2003, that the draft Annual Report  for the year dated 30 June 2012 as adopted by the Council of the Makana Municipality on 31 January 2013 will be discussed with the community during Public Consultation Sessions at the following venues.

CLOSURE OF ROADS DURING FREEDOM OF THE CITY PARADE

This notice serves to inform the general public that, due to the Freedom of the City Parade, the following traffic arrangements will apply on 07 March 2013:

1. Corner of Hill/Beaufort Street between 09:00 & 09:30 will be closed for traffic.
2. Corner of African/Cawood Street 06:00 till 10:30 will be closed for traffic.
3. High Street from Church Square till the crossing at Cawood 06:00 till 10:30 will be closed for traffic.
4. Somerset Street at Rhodes University, New Street over crossing into Knight Street will be closed for a short period.

Any inconvenience that will be caused by these arrangements is regretted.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING

The acting Municipal Manager, Mr. E. T. Myalato, as duly instructed by the Speaker of the Makana Municipality (Clr. R. Madinda-Isaac), hereby gives notice that, in terms of Section 19(b) of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, Act No. 32 of 2000, a Special Council meeting of the Makana Local Municipality will be held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, High Street, Grahamstown on THURSDAY, 31 JANUARY 2013 at 14h00.

WATER QUALITY ANALYSIS RESULTS FOR MONTH ENDING 30 JUNE 2012

Tests were done on the 06 June 2012 by Amatola Water Board for the entire Makana, i.e. Grahamstown, Alicedale and Riebeeck East.

Water quality results are subdivided into physical, chemical and microbiological requirements.

Physical Requirements

All tests were found to be compliant of Department of Water Affairs SANS 241 Class I and II water. That is pH, Turbidity, conductivity and total dissolved solids etc.
