Mayor toasts to the women of Makana

The office of the Executive Mayor, is hosting Women’s Month Celebrations to wrap up this very special month on the calendar of South Africa.  The event is set to take place on Thursday, 27 August 2009 at the City Hall from 15:30 and women of all ages, colour, social standing and creed are to be made to feel empowered and special on this day.

 This will be a banquet style event with keynote female speakers who will be requested to speak on pre-chosen topics which are aimed at providing women who will be in attendance with valuable self-help, “vuk’uzenzela” style knowledge which includes recently introduced projects within government and other departments such as:

• Agriculture – to share information on the Siyazondla and the Women in Agriculture and Rural Development (WARD) Programmes

• Social Development – available programmes in the department that can be of assistance to women;

• The introduction of the newly established Women, Youth, Children and People with Disabilities’ ministry through a relevant speaker to share what the aim of the ministry is and how it can be of assistance to the listed constituencies;

• HEI Access Information and possible Funding for Studies -

A total of 180 women from different constituencies will be drawn from the following :

Wards 
Makana Female staff
Disabled persons 
Female Councillors  
Government Departments
NGO structures
Political Parties
