Wednesday, 29 July 2009 18:42

A renewed commitment and a fresh approach by the Makana Municipality towards building and establishing meaningful partnerships with the local business sector to better implement sustainable Local Economic Development, has been established.

Today a successful Makana Business Conference was held to close the gap between the Municipality and the local business sector, particularly the previously underprivileged. This follows the resolutions taken during the LED Leadership Conference held on 31March 2009, that Makana Municipality should facilitate the organization of the local business sector which should lead to the revival and strengthening of the Makana Business Chamber.

In this regard the Makana Business Conference has tried to achieve the following objectives:

 To create a platform for Makana Municipality and local business to engage on issues affecting Local Economic Development.
 To identify areas of co operation between Makana Municipality and local business sector.
 To recommend ways of maximizing the impact of business sector in LED.
 To share best practice cases and lessons on organizing business sector for sustainable Local Economic Development.
 To discuss ways of reviving and strengthening the Makana Business Chamber.

Makana Municipality has committed itself to promote private-public dialogue that will translate into meaningful business, community and government opportunities in the region.
