An inspirational day for local learners ended in excitement as the learners posed happily for photographs with high-ranking political leaders at the first day of the two-day programme.
Learners from various schools around Makana Municipality gathered for a jamboree at the Settlers’ Monument in Makhanda, Eastern Cape. The jamboree is part of the Back 2 School Outreach programme launched by Speaker Mapisa-Nqakula in the area. #Back2SchoolSpeaker2022
Among the dignitaries attending the opening day were National Assembly Speaker Honourable Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Honourable Lechesa Tsenoli (virtually), National Assembly House Chairperson: Committees Honourable Cedric Frolick, Deputy Minister Sports Arts and Culture Honourable Nocawe Mafu, Sarah Baartman District Municipality Council Speaker Honourable Nomhle Gaga, Makana Local Municipality Council Speaker Honourable Mabhuti Matyumza and Executive Mayor Honourable Yandiswa Vara.
Mr Siyabonga Jam, local field worker at Makhanda Parliamentary Constituency Office (PCO), welcomed visitors during the launch of the PCO in Link Street by the Speaker of the National Assembly Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula. The launch of the PCO took place shortly after the fist session.
